The 12th Annual Aldergrove Fair Car Show and Shine is coming up
The car show started in 2009 as a kick-off for the Aldergrove Fair weekend. It hasn’t changed much over
the years. It is still a free show and is attended by a large number of local car enthusiasts.
COVID-19 affected the show & shine last year so we couldn’t meet, but there was a wonderful car cruise
through Aldergrove that warmed the hearts of many local residents from the safety of their front yards.
This year has seen the opening up of outdoor events, and I believe everyone is looking forward to
getting out and seeing some wonderful cars.
Join us on Friday, July 16th from 6 pm to 9 pm in the parking lot of the Aldergrove Community Secondary
School, 26850 29th Avenue, Aldergrove. This is normally the weekend of the Aldergrove Fair, but this
year we are holding our Drive Thru 109th Aldergrove Fair at MacInnes Farms, 252nd St and 72 Ave, on
August 28th and 29th
We hope to see you at the car show and the Fair! For more information, visit our website. Website:
www.AldergroveFair.ca Be sure to like and share our Facebook page and visit often for updates.
Thanks very much, and we hope to see you there!

Director, Aldergrove Fair Days.

The BC Corvette Club is organizing Canadian Graffiti on July 17, 2021. This rolling car show is open to all car enthusiasts as we collectively drive the Lougheed / Barnet corridor in the Tri-Cities. The route can be driven in either direction with drivers making as many circuits as they wish. This gives participants the opportunity to show off their cars, both on the road and while parked at various stop points. The event is open to all car enthusiasts, but we ask that participants make a donation with proceeds going to SHARE Family & Community Services.
Donations are being collected at the Coquitlam White Spot parking lot. Collections start at 5:30pm.
When you make a donation of at least $10, you and your passenger will be presented with a commemorative lapel pin. Wearing the pin will entitle you to a 10% discount at Coquitlam White Spot at 3205 Lougheed Hwy, free beverages with your meal at Coquitlam Grill at 2635 Barnet Hwy, or free Root Beer at the Poco A&W at 859 Village Dr.
In addition to the sponsor restaurants, the route is lined with a variety of restaurants and coffee shops for those who want to stop for dinner or a snack. At the West end of the route is Rocky Point which boasts craft breweries and food trucks along with two ice cream stands. At the East end of the route is A&W at Freemont Village and White Spot is mid-route. We ask that participants abide by current COVID-19 guidelines.

August 14th and 15th at The Park @ Crown Isle
Where your Car is the Star!

Registration is now open for the 4th annual Romeo St. Jacques Memorial, August 14th and 15th at The Park @ Crown Isle. With the recent re-opening plan laid out by the province, we are ready to go ahead with a full weekend of classic cars. This year we will again be raising funds for the Comox Valley Child Development Association. We believe the future of car shows should be free for the entrants and contributions should come from the visitors – the Car is the Star, and we are celebrating all your hard work on your vehicle. The car show and cruise, along with Friday Meet & Greet and Saturday lunch, are all included in your free entry to the Hot August Nights weekend.

The weekend will kick off with a Meet & Greet on Friday, August 13th at Crown Isle Resort. Join us from 7 – 9pm for a complimentary wine and cheese reception in the Ballroom or out on the grass (will confirm with Covid protocols in place at time of event). This event is for car show entrants only, smart casual dress.

The car show will run on Saturday from 10am – 3pm with cars lining the fairways of the beautiful setting at The Park at 1239 Anderton Road. Patrons will be lining up to view your incredible cars, while the smell of the BBQ smoulders through the air and the sound of rockabilly music echoes through the trees. As a car show entrant, your lunch will be included on show day.

Saturday evening, return to Crown Isle for an outdoor Dinner & Dance with live music. More details will come in early July including the menu, band and more, but please let us know in the registration form if you would like to attend. This is a ticketed event and tickets will be available for purchase in July.

Finish off your car weekend with a Comox Valley cruise on Sunday starting at noon. Cars will line up the same as last year along Crown Isle Drive, in preparation for the start. The cruise map will be sent out in advance as well as being available on the day of. Designated donation cars will ride in the cruise to collect donations for CVCDA from spectators watching along the route.
We encourage you to book your accommodations soon as we are anticipating a very busy summer in the villas. Please click HERE to book your accommodations.
Our number one priority is the safety of the car owners and our community. We will keep you updated on current public health orders.

We look forward to seeing all of you on August 14th and 15th. Until then, stay safe and hit the open road!!

Subject: ***URGENT***

On August 20th an Order in Council was added to the existing Provincial Health Order governing gatherings and events.

“An owner or operator of a place may permit up to fifty patrons to attend an event in a place if the following conditions are met:”

  1. There is an organizer of the event

  2. If the organizer is not the owner or operator of the place, the organizer must provide the owner or operator with the first and last names and telephone number or e-mail address of every patron who attends the event

  3. Access to the event is controlled

  4. The number of patrons is closely monitored

  5. There is sufficient space available to permit the patrons to maintain a distance of 2 metres from one another

  6. The patrons maintain a distance of two metres from one another when standing or sitting unless they belong to the same party

  7. No more than 6 patrons sit at a table even if they are in the same party

  8. Hand sanitization supplies are readily available

  9. There are washroom facilities available with running water , soap, and a sanitary means for washing and drying hands.

There’s more to it if you choose to follow the link but I’ve hit the high points.

So I called the person who is heading the Provincial team responsible for the interpretation and ultimately providing guidance in the areas of enforcement in order to seek some advice on our A&W get together and I was told the following.

The “gatherings” at the A&W constitute an event as they have been ongoing for many years and those who attend are fully aware of this  event without having to be invited or learning about it in any media form. “it just happens every Thursday”

Gary’s paraphrase  “A person must not promote a social gathering or event or encourage another person to attend such a social gathering or event unless you follow the rules laid out above”

What does all this come down to?  if a business allow people to gather then they are open to a $2300 fine.  We as individuals are all open to a $200 fine for attending the A&W on Thursday as we are unable to meet all of the conditions as listed above.
